The Central Coast is an outstanding region for the production of high quality Pinot Noir, with both the Northern and Southern extremes having moderate temperatures during the growing season. This, in turn, lengthens the growing season, leading to the development of flavor intensity. The extended time on the vine allows deeper and more complex flavors combined with a savory edge rarely seen outside of its original home in Burgundy.
Intense red currents and strawberries coupled with morel mushroom are dominant on the nose, while delicate fruits and spices line the long palate. This Pinot Noir is mid-weight with long tannins and bright acidity that draws the abundance of fruit through the palate. Harvested in the cool of the night, the fruit was processed soon after, and underwent 24-hour pre-fermentation maceration to enhance extraction of soft tannins and bright red fruits. Fermentation took 7-10 days, after which it underwent malolactic fermentation and remained in a combination French and American oak barrel for approximately 9 months.
We recommend drink it now, or continue to let it develop over the next few years.
